TERMS OF SERVICE
It is your responsibility to fully understand the terms and conditions for the retreat. Please read carefully what is and is not included in your retreat package and view all encompassing on the website. Should you have questions regarding the terms and conditions, we are available and would be happy to clarify any areas in advance of signing.
PAYMENT TERMS & CANCELLATIONS
1. RETREAT PRICING
All prices are per person and are set well in advance of the retreat start date. Prices include retreat costs only; they do not include travel costs to and from the retreat.
2. RETREAT PAYMENT & DEPOSIT
Payment can be made by credit card, check, or transfer via the website. If a non-refundable deposit is made, the remaining balance will be due on dates agreed upon during registration. Participants will receive a reminder email one week prior to the due date. If full payment is not received by this deadline, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation and fill your spot. We will make every effort to avoid this situation by contacting you prior to and on the day of the balance due date.
Cancellation more than 60 days before the retreat: Full refund (minus deposit)
Cancellation less than 60 days and more than 30 days before the event: 50% refund
Cancellation less than 30 days, but more than 14 days: 25% refund
Cancellation 14 days or less: No refund
3. STRICT CANCELLATION POLICY
If you wish to cancel your retreat you must notify The Lama Dorje Foundation (“The Host”) via email at events@lamadorje.net. There are no refunds on deposits. There are also no refunds paid after the payment deadline mentioned in section 2 above. Exceptions to our cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including weather, civil unrest, health changes, personal emergencies or otherwise. That being said, we will consider any situation on a case by case basis. There is no refund for arriving late or leaving a trip early.
4. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
U.S., all American passport holders are required to have at least 6 months validity on their passport at time of travel. Information regarding necessary documentation is provided as necessary in our informational packets or you can contact us for more detailed information.
5. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF ASSUMPTION OF RISK
I acknowledge that I have voluntarily enrolled to participate in this retreat. In consideration of The Host allowing me to participate, I agree to this release of claims, waiver of liability and assumption of risks. On behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, successors, administrators and any other person who may have an interest at common law or by operation of statute, I hereby waive any and all claims I or such parties may have now or in the future. I release from liability The Host and any teachers, employees, guides, agents or representatives (“the releasees”) for any personal injury, death, property damage or loss or any nature suffered by me as a result of participation in any activity on the retreat. I release from liability The Host for any cause whatsoever including those arising out of, or in any way connected to or occasioned by the negligence of the releasees.
6. MEDIA CONSENT AND USE
During the retreat/event, photographs, videos, testimonials, or other forms of media may be captured by the Host or authorized representatives. By participating in the event, you grant the Host permission to use such media in which you appear for purposes related to documenting, sharing, and promoting the retreat, future events, and the Host’s work.This permission includes the use of images, video, audio recordings, and written or verbal testimonials on websites, social media, newsletters, promotional materials, and other communication channels. If you do not wish your photos, videos, or other media featuring you to be used, please inform the Host before or during the event. The Host will make reasonable efforts to respect your request and avoid using such media for future publications.The Host will not sell your image or use your likeness for unrelated commercial purposes without your additional consent. Your name will not be used alongside any photograph, video, or testimonial unless you have provided permission to do so.By signing this agreement, you confirm that you are an adult and have read and understood this media consent.
7. RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY
I hereby agree that I, my assignees, heirs, distributees, guardians, and legal representatives will not make a claim against, sue or attach the property of The Host, their affiliates, teachers, employees, agents or volunteers or any of their affiliated organizations for injury or damage resulting from acts, howsoever caused, by any employee, agent, or contractor, or any of their affiliated organizations, as a result of my participation in The Host’s retreats. I hereby release The Host, and any of their agents or affiliated organizations from all actions, claims or demands that I, my assigns, heirs, distributees, guardians, and legal representatives now have or may hereafter have for injury, damage, or death resulting from my participation in The Host’s retreats. I am medically, physically, emotionally and in all respects fit and able to participate in The Host’s retreats. I agree I will be fully and financially responsible for my own physical condition and well-being during the retreat and will follow the safety precautions and instructions prescribed by The Host. I acknowledge that The Host may make suggestions from time to time that are intended to help me and my well-being. However I take ultimate responsibility for my choices and realize that The Host is not licensed medical provider and that I must consult my doctor. By agreeing to the terms outlined here and elsewhere on the The Host’s website I hereby release and discharge my rights and claims for damages or liabilities that may occur as a result of participation on a The Host’s retreat.
ABOUT DEWACHEN
Dewachen World Peace Sanctuary is a living and evolving sanctuary, gently being built as the home and land of the Lama Dorje Foundation. Set on a vast mountainside that unfolds like a green carpet, Dewachen is a place where the natural world quietly supports inner stillness and contemplation.Here, birdsong accompanies the day, mist moves slowly through the forest, and wildflowers and native trees emerge naturally from the land. The air is fresh and spacious, inviting deep breaths and a sense of clarity. Rather than dramatic distractions, the environment offers simplicity, openness, and a steady rhythm that supports meditation and silence.Dewachen is also held by a community rooted in trust, kindness, and service. Those who steward the land and support the retreats do so with care and humility, creating a container where participants can feel safe, supported, and gently guided back to the beauty and wisdom within themselves.Located at approximately 4,000 feet (1,200 meters) above sea level, Dewachen enjoys cool, restful nights and warm, pleasant days. This balanced mountain climate naturally supports both physical comfort and sustained meditation practice, making it an ideal environment for retreat and inner renewal. We are located in the region of Perez Zeledon- 45 min South and into the mountains from San Isidro de General. (4 hours south of the capital San Jose).
Dewachen is not yet a finished place—it is a place in the making, growing step by step alongside the sangha and the aspirations of peace, wisdom, and compassion it is meant to serve.I understand Dewachen is a masterpiece in progress in the middle of the jungle in Costa Rica. I understand it is common in rural situations for electric or water to go out temporarily. I understand bugs and critters co-exist in the jungle. Though preventative measures are taken by the hosts, it is possible I may see them in and around personal or shared spaces. (Our service team will happily help you.)

TÉRMINOS DE PAGO Y CANCELACIONES
1. PRECIOS DEL RETIRO
Todos los precios son por persona y se establecen con bastante anticipación a la fecha de inicio del retiro. Los precios incluyen únicamente los costos del retiro; no incluyen los costos de viaje hacia y desde el retiro.
2. PAGO Y DEPÓSITO DEL RETIRO
El pago se puede hacer con tarjeta de crédito, cheque o transferencia a través del sitio web. Si se realiza un depósito no reembolsable, el saldo restante se vencerá en las fechas acordadas durante el registro. Los participantes recibirán un correo electrónico de recordatorio una semana antes de la fecha de vencimiento. Si no se recibe el pago completo antes de esta fecha límite, nos reservamos el derecho de cancelar tu reserva y llenar tu lugar. Haremos todo lo posible para evitar esta situación comunicándonos contigo antes y el día de la fecha de vencimiento del saldo.
Cancelación más de 60 días antes del retiro: Reembolso completo (menos el depósito)
Cancelación menos de 60 días y más de 30 días antes del evento: 50% de reembolso
Cancelación menos de 30 días, pero más de 14 días: 25% de reembolso
Cancelación 14 días o menos: Sin reembolso
3. POLÍTICA ESTRICTA DE CANCELACIÓN
Si deseas cancelar tu retiro debes notificar a The Lama Dorje Foundation (“El Anfitrión”) por correo electrónico a events@lamadorje.net. No hay reembolsos en los depósitos. Tampoco hay reembolsos pagados después de la fecha límite de pago mencionada en la sección 2 anterior. No se pueden hacer excepciones a nuestra política de cancelación por ningún motivo, incluidos el clima, disturbios civiles, cambios de salud, emergencias personales u otros. Dicho esto, consideraremos cualquier situación caso por caso. No hay reembolso por llegar tarde o salir temprano de un viaje.
4. DOCUMENTOS DE VIAJE
Los titulares de pasaportes de EE. UU. y de todos los países de América deben tener al menos 6 meses de validez en su pasaporte al momento de viajar. La información sobre la documentación necesaria se proporciona según sea necesario en nuestros paquetes informativos o puedes comunicarte con nosotros para obtener información más detallada.
5. RECONOCIMIENTO DE ASUNCIÓN DE RIESGO
Reconozco que me he inscrito voluntariamente para participar en este retiro. En consideración a que El Anfitrión me permite participar, acepto esta renuncia de reclamaciones, exención de responsabilidad y asunción de riesgos. En nombre de mí mismo, mis herederos, ejecutores, sucesores, administradores y cualquier otra persona que pueda tener un interés en el derecho consuetudinario o por disposición legal, por la presente renuncio a cualquier y todas las reclamaciones que yo o dichas partes podamos tener ahora o en el futuro.Libero de responsabilidad a El Anfitrión y a cualquier maestro, empleado, guía, agente o representante (“los exonerados”) por cualquier lesión personal, muerte, daño a la propiedad o pérdida de cualquier naturaleza sufrida por mí como resultado de la participación en cualquier actividad en el retiro. Libero de responsabilidad a El Anfitrión por cualquier causa, incluidas aquellas que surjan de, o estén de alguna manera conectadas u ocasionadas por la negligencia de los exonerados.
6. CONSENTIMIENTO Y USO DE MEDIOS
Durante el retiro/evento, El Anfitrión o representantes autorizados pueden capturar fotografías, videos, testimonios u otras formas de medios. Al participar en el evento, otorgas permiso a El Anfitrión para utilizar dichos medios en los que apareces para fines relacionados con documentar, compartir y promocionar el retiro, eventos futuros y el trabajo de El Anfitrión.Este permiso incluye el uso de imágenes, video, grabaciones de audio y testimonios escritos o verbales en sitios web, redes sociales, boletines informativos, materiales promocionales y otros canales de comunicación.Si no deseas que se utilicen tus fotos, videos u otros medios en los que apareces, informa a El Anfitrión antes o durante el evento. El Anfitrión hará esfuerzos razonables para respetar tu solicitud y evitar el uso de dichos medios para futuras publicaciones.El Anfitrión no venderá tu imagen ni utilizará tu imagen para fines comerciales no relacionados sin tu consentimiento adicional. Tu nombre no se utilizará junto a ninguna fotografía, video o testimonio a menos que hayas dado permiso para hacerlo.Al firmar este acuerdo, confirmas que eres un adulto y has leído y entendido este consentimiento de medios.
7. LIBERACIÓN Y RENUNCIA DE RESPONSABILIDAD
Por la presente acepto que yo, mis cesionarios, herederos, distribuidores, tutores y representantes legales no haremos una reclamación contra, demandaremos ni embargaremos la propiedad de El Anfitrión, sus afiliados, maestros, empleados, agentes o voluntarios o cualquiera de sus organizaciones afiliadas por lesiones o daños resultantes de actos, independientemente de cómo hayan sido causados, por cualquier empleado, agente o contratista, o cualquiera de sus organizaciones afiliadas, como resultado de mi participación en los retiros de El Anfitrión.Por la presente libero a El Anfitrión y a cualquiera de sus agentes u organizaciones afiliadas de todas las acciones, reclamaciones o demandas que yo, mis cesionarios, herederos, distribuidores, tutores y representantes legales ahora tengamos o podamos tener en el futuro por lesiones, daños o muerte resultantes de mi participación en los retiros de El Anfitrión.Estoy médica, física, emocionalmente y en todos los aspectos en forma y capacitado para participar en los retiros de El Anfitrión. Acepto que seré total y financieramente responsable de mi propia condición física y bienestar durante el retiro y seguiré las precauciones de seguridad e instrucciones prescritas por El Anfitrión. Reconozco que El Anfitrión puede hacer sugerencias de vez en cuando destinadas a ayudarme a mí y a mi bienestar. Sin embargo, asumo la responsabilidad final de mis elecciones y me doy cuenta de que El Anfitrión no es un proveedor médico autorizado y que debo consultar a mi médico.Al aceptar los términos descritos aquí y en otros lugares del sitio web de El Anfitrión, por la presente libero y descargo mis derechos y reclamaciones por daños o responsabilidades que puedan ocurrir como resultado de la participación en un retiro de El Anfitrión.

Dewachen aún no es un lugar terminado; es un lugar en proceso de creación, creciendo paso a paso junto a la sangha y las aspiraciones de paz, sabiduría y compasión a las que está destinado a servir.Entiendo que Dewachen es una obra maestra en progreso en medio de la jungla en Costa Rica. Entiendo que es común en situaciones rurales que la electricidad o el agua se corten temporalmente. Entiendo que los bichos y criaturas coexisten en la jungla. Aunque los anfitriones toman medidas preventivas, es posible que los vea dentro y alrededor de espacios personales o compartidos. (Nuestro equipo de servicio estará feliz de ayudarte).
